ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Jack Cummings III is Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Transport Group Theatre Company, where he conceives and leads the company’s artistic vision and collaborates closely with artists throughout the development process. Over more than 30 years, he has created theatre centered on exploration, experimentation, and bold reimaginings of classic and contemporary work. Select Transport Group directing credits include Bus Stop, Summer and Smoke, Queen of the Mist, Strange Interlude, I Remember Mama, Almost, Maine, Our Town; Liza! at 80: A Celebration in Song and Dance and Follies in Concert at Carnegie Hall. He is a two-time Obie, five-time Drama Desk, and Audelco Award winner. He earned a BA from The College of William & Mary and an MFA in Directing from the University of Virginia.

John Cariani is an actor and a playwright. As an actor, he has been nominated for a Tony Award and a couple of Grammy Awards for his work on Broadway, and is probably best known for his roles on TV’s Law & Order, and The Onion News Network. He will be starring in Transport Group’s upcoming 1939, which he is co-creating with Jack Cummings III and Kelly McAndrew. As a playwright, John is best known for his plays Almost, Maine (Transport Group 2014), and LOVE/SICK, which have received thousands of productions worldwide and have been translated into nearly twenty languages.

Kelly McAndrew stars in and is co-creating 1939 at Transport Group with Jack Cummings III and John Cariani. She appeared on Broadway as Maggie the Cat in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Her Off-Broadway credits include Blood of the Lamb, Coach Coach, Stargazers, Men on Boats, The Thin Place, Novenas for a Lost Hospital, and Almost, Maine.
